45th Reunion 2006 is Friday, June 30 - July 4. Here
is the schedule of events:
Friday, June 30: Early
Bird - no host dinner at Miquel's -
3pm.
Great Mexican food restaurant in the hidden patio area of the El Cordova Hotel. (You
DO remember where the El Cordova Hotel is, huh?) They won't take separate checks so
bring cash to throw into the single check for what you eat/drink. No real
reservations needed...but the class would like to know so we can at least have enough
tables pushed together or in the same vicinity. Don't ask about the Mexican
Village...it's history!
Saturday, July 1: Class Reunion Dinner -5pm - Bill
and Chris (Vetter) Pate have graciously volunteered their home for our Reunion
Dinner. Bill Gise and Marsha Patterson are organizing the event. It will a
"Backyard BBQ - Aloha Shirt" spouse-friendly affair with lots of time to talk
and catch up!!! GET YOUR MONEY IN - or you won't
eat........or drink!! Reservation form is below....print it out and mail it in with
your check.
Sunday, July 2: Concert-in-the-Park/picnic - 4pm or
later. Dinner will probably be about 5-ish, music starts at 6pm.
The City of Coronado has a Concert-in-the-Park series in Spreckles Park (what
"WE" knew as Central Park) all summer from Memorial Day to Labor Day. LOTS
of Coronado people will be here....people from other classes as well as a few parents you
knew. It's real Coronado-FUN....and is over by 7-7:30. We're there EVERY
Sunday....we set-up b/w 3-4pm (table, BBQ etc)....people arrive about 4:30....eat at 5pm
and the music starts at 6. During the summer, we do this as a potluck...but this
time...we're doing hot dogs and hamburgers so you don't have to bring a dish. Just
sign up on the reservation form.
Monday, July 3: Annual All-Class Reunion at the Golf Course Clubhouse - 8 to 12pm.
$10.00 at the door as a donation to the Coronado Schools Foundation. There's usually
a good band, no-host bar and hundreds of people from all the other CHS classes. It's
your basic kegger!
Tuesday, July 4: Parade at 10am, Concert-in-the-Park
about 4:30 and Fireworks at 9pm.
Our "usual" spot for the parade is the grass island below 3rd (near the metal
signs which Bill Gise made saying Rotary, Kiwanis etc). That way, we'll be just
below the incoming traffic from the bridge on 3rd. Dale Garman, Rick Beveridge,
George Conrad, Harriet Sherby, Dan Appleton etc. are getting rooms at the Best Western
Motel on the corner. Depending on how early one of us volunteers gets down there to
stake out the turf (typically 5:30am!!), we'll be on one side or the other of the
Christmas tree near those signs. Bring a lawn chair if you have one....we'll have
some extras and blankets.
There is plenty of food sold at the park on July 4, and the VFW
usually sells a great steak dinner....the 4th of July CONCERT is earlier than the Sunday
afternoon concerts....4:30 - "West Coast Iron Works" - a great Rock and Roll
band!! We'll be at our usual spot in the park.
